Harvard referencing - Hume Paper?

The basic rule is to include enough to help a reader find the passage, but nothing superfluous. In general, I would accept a footnote on the order of "All subsequent references are to this edition," but the ultimate decision will come from your editor or instructor. Here is a link to the style guide for Hume Studies, which should give you an idea of what Hume scholars expect.
