How can I text and receive texts when I'm in the Bahamas?

I'm from the US and will be in the Bahamas for a few weeks. I will NOT have a cell phone in the Bahamas. However, I will have a laptop with me that will have internet connection. Is there a website or some program that let's me send texts to people's cell in the US and let's me receive text back on my computer as well. I've seen alot of free sites that let me send out texts but doesn't allow me to receive "reply" texts. Anybody have any idea how i can send texts to friend's cell as well as receive my friend's "reply" text back on my computer? Thank you
