Boyfriend acting distant?

So my boyfriend and I have been dating for three months ( I knew him prior) and everything was going great until he got back from a trip to the Bahamas. He would tell me he would call and everytime he would follow through. When he got back he started saying he would call me later and never would, and he texted me that he might be able to come see me (he lives an hour away and I am doing summer school) and he would let me know later. So later that night I still hadnt heard anything so I just called him and asked and he said he would be coming up but nothing along the lines of I want to see you although later in the conversation he said he would call me when he got up here. The first 15 mins of the conversation were awkward and he just wouldnt talk. I dont know what is going on? I feel he is being distant how to I broach this.
