Are my parents poor?????????

My parents told us we could go to the bahamas this summer, but when it came time to plan it they said it was just too much money right now. My dad says he makes good money (he's a computer engineer, and travels every week) but him and my mom hate spending money. He says we r richer than all my friends and my friends only have big houses and boats and stuff because they have loans. I'm scared he's lying to me and we r poor or something, but we own a pool and have a pretty big house, but we can't ever go on big vacations or buy expensive clothes!!!! I'm really upset because i was really looking forward to the trip, and now we r just gonna rent a beach house at the local beach!! Help???
